Terms and Conditions of Participation

Section 1 Scope
These terms and conditions of participation apply to all submissions to the Lumivor Design Award (the “Award”). By submitting a project, the submitting person or organization (the “Submitter”) accepts these terms and conditions in full.
The Award is not directed at consumers within the meaning of Section 13 of the German Civil Code (BGB).

Section 3 Eligibility
Digital products (apps) may participate in the Award if all of the following requirements are met:
- The app is designed for mobile devices and is published in the App Store (iOS) and/or Google Play Store (Android)
- The developing team, studio, or company is based in Europe or has a substantial operational focus in Europe, or the app has a significant European user base
- The initial release of the app took place no more than three (3) years before the submission deadline
- Games are excluded from participation
- Each app may only be submitted in one category
There is no limit to the number of submissions per Submitter.
Section 4 Categories
Submissions are assigned to one of the following categories:
- Best Mobile UX
- Best Visual Design
- Best Accessibility Experience
- Best Interaction Design
- Best Innovation
The jury reserves the right to consider particularly outstanding submissions in additional internal categories.
Section 5 Submission
Submission is free of charge via the official submission form on the Award website. A submission is only valid if all required information and materials have been provided in full.
Submitters warrant that:
- all information provided is accurate
- they are authorized to submit the project
- the submitted project fulfills the participation requirements
The organizer reserves the right to reject incomplete submissions or submissions that do not meet the participation requirements without stating reasons.
Section 6 Jury and Evaluation
Awards are decided by an independent jury of experts from the fields of design, product development, and digital innovation.
The decision of the jury is final and cannot be challenged within the scope of the Award process. There is no legal entitlement to receive an award or to be considered. The jury is not obliged to provide reasons for its decisions.
Section 7 Type of Award
In the event of an award, winners receive:
- A digital seal (label) for use in their own corporate communications
- A digital certificate including project name, category, and award year
- A listing of the awarded project in the public winners gallery on the Award website
There is no legal entitlement to any specific form of presentation or communication.
Section 8 Copyright and Rights of Use
Copyright and other intellectual property rights in the submitted projects and materials remain with the Submitters.
By submitting, Submitters grant the organizer the non-exclusive, free of charge, and unlimited right in time to use submitted materials (for example screenshots, descriptions, and app name) for the following purposes:
- Promotion and documentation of the Award
- Communication on the Award website and on social media
- Press releases and editorial reporting about the Award
Submitters warrant that they hold all rights required for the submission and that no third-party rights are infringed. Submitters are liable to the organizer in the event of any legal infringement.
Section 9 Liability
The organizer accepts no liability for the accuracy, completeness, or legality of the information or materials provided by Submitters.
The organizer is liable for technical interruptions of the submission platform resulting in a complete or partial loss of submission data only in cases of intent or gross negligence.
In cases of force majeure (for example pandemics, official orders, or major technical outages), the organizer is entitled to postpone, modify, or cancel the Award without any claims arising for Submitters.
Section 10 Data Protection
Personal data is processed within the framework of the Award in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Further information on data processing can be found in the Privacy Policy.
Section 11 Final Provisions
The law of the Federal Republic of Germany applies exclusively.
The place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms and conditions is Villingen-Schwenningen, to the extent permitted by law.
Should individual provisions of these terms and conditions be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. The invalid provision shall be replaced by a valid provision that comes closest to the economic purpose of the invalid provision.
